Running your league

Everything a league admin needs: setting up a season, the fixture list, entering results and keeping the table right. The table works itself out from the results, so most weeks the only job is typing in scores.

Signing in

  1. Go to the sign-in page and enter the email and password Buildory set up for you.
  2. You'll see your league. Click it to open its seasons.

Accounts are created by Buildory; there is no public sign-up. If you've forgotten your password or a new committee member needs access, contact Buildory.

Each person only ever sees their own league. Nobody else can see or change your league's data.

Seasons

Each season (for example Winter League 2026/27) has its own divisions, teams, fixtures and table.

  1. On your league's page, type the season name under Start a new season and press Create season.
  2. The new season starts as a Draft, so it's hidden from your website while you set it up. It copies the scoring rules from your last season. Leave Copy the divisions and teams ticked to start with last season's divisions and teams (then move any promoted or relegated teams, see below); untick it to start with an empty Division 1.
  3. When it's ready, change the dropdown at the top of the season to Live (on the website) and press Save.
  4. At the end of the season, set it to Finished. It stays on the website as a past season.

Teams and divisions

  1. Open the season and go to the Teams tab.
  2. Type a team name under Add a team and press Add. Teams from earlier seasons are suggested as you type, so the same team keeps the same name year to year.
  3. To add another division, type its name under Add a division. When a season has more than one division, buttons at the top let you switch between them; everything on the tabs below is for the division you've picked.
  4. Promotion and relegation: click a team's name, choose the division under Move to and press Move. Do this before creating the fixtures: once a team has games in a division, it can't be moved (remove it and add it to the other division instead).

Creating the fixture list

For a division with no games yet, the system can make the whole list in one go: everyone plays everyone, one round each week.

  1. Add at least two teams first.
  2. Go to Fixtures & results, pick the first match night, and leave Home and away ticked if each pair plays twice.
  3. Press the Create … fixtures button (it shows how many teams, for example Create 12 teams' fixtures). Every team plays once per week, and home games are shared out fairly.
  4. Then open any game and set its time and court if you use them.

Once a division has games, this button disappears, so the list can never be created twice by accident.

Adding a single fixture

For a rearranged match, a cup game or anything extra:

  1. On Fixtures & results, press + Add a fixture at the top.
  2. Choose the home team, away team and date. Time, court and venue are optional.
  3. Press Add fixture. It appears under To play in date order.

Entering results

  1. Go to Fixtures & results. The To play view opens first; games whose date has passed without a result are at the top under Needs a result.
  2. Type the two scores into the boxes and press Save result.
  3. The button says Saving... while it works, then a green message at the top of the screen confirms it, for example Result saved: 15-52. You stay where you were on the page.
  4. The game moves to Played and the table updates straight away.

Made a mistake? Switch to Played, find the game, change the numbers and press Correct result. The table fixes itself.

Every result, and every change to one, is recorded with who made it and when, so a disputed score can always be checked.

A whole match night at once

The quickest way to enter a night's scores:

  1. On Fixtures & results, switch to Match night. It opens on the first night that still needs results.
  2. Type the scores for every game that was played. Leave a game empty to skip it.
  3. Press Save all once. Everything is checked first: if a game has only one score filled in, nothing is saved and the message tells you which game to fix.

To pick another night, choose it from the Match night list and press Show. Games that already have a result show their score, so you can correct them here too.

Postponing, cancelling and moving games

  1. Under any game, click Change date, court or status.
  2. Change the date, time, court or venue, or set the status to Postponed or Cancelled, and press Save changes.
  • Postponed: still to be played; set the new date when it's known.
  • Cancelled: won't be played and doesn't count in the table.
  • A game that already has a result can only be changed back if you tick Clear the result, so a score is never wiped by accident.
  • To remove a game completely, tick Delete this fixture and press Delete.

The league table

The Table tab shows the standings. It isn't typed in anywhere: it's worked out from the results every time it's shown, using your scoring rules. That means it can never be out of date or out of step with the results.

Columns: P played, W won, D drawn, L lost, GF goals for, GA goals against, GD goal difference, Pts points. A team with a deduction shows it in red next to its name.

Scoring rules

Each season has its own rules on the Scoring rules tab:

  • Points for a win, a draw and a loss.
  • Losing bonus (optional): extra points for a team that loses closely. For example, 3 points for losing by 5 goals or fewer, and 1 point for scoring at least 50% of the winner's goals. A losing team gets the best bonus it qualifies for, never both. Draws don't earn a bonus.
  • Tie-breakers: how teams level on points are separated, in order, for example goal difference, then goals for, then fewest goals against.

Changing a rule recalculates the whole table at once. It's best to set the rules before the season starts and leave them.

Points deductions

  1. Go to Deductions, pick the team, enter the points and a reason (for example Late cancellation, 2 Dec).
  2. Press Save adjustment. The table updates and shows the deduction next to the team.

To award points instead, use a minus number (for example -2 gives the team 2 points). Remove an adjustment with Remove next to it.

Documents

  1. On your league's page, click Documents.
  2. Give the document a title, choose or type a category (for example AGM minutes), pick the file and press Upload.

PDF, Word and Excel files up to 4 MB are accepted. Documents show on your website grouped by category. Use Delete to remove one.

Removing a team or division

A team (for example one that withdraws): on the Teams tab, click the team's name and press Remove. If it has games, you must tick Also delete its fixtures; its results then come out of the table. A team that isn't in any other season is deleted from the league completely.

A division: on the Teams tab, click the division in the Divisions box, tick to confirm and press Delete. Its games and adjustments go with it. A season must keep at least one division, so the last one can't be deleted.

Deleting can't be undone from the screen, but everything is recorded. If something is removed by mistake, contact Buildory.

History: who changed what

On your league's page, click History to see every change ever made, newest first, in plain words. For example: Sue corrected CP Kestrels v CP Eagles from 15-52 to 15-53, with the date and time.

Nobody can edit or delete the history, so if a captain questions a score you can see exactly who entered it and when.

Questions

Does the website update by itself? Yes. When a result is saved, your website shows it within moments. Draft seasons are never shown.

Can two of us use it at once? Yes. Each admin has their own login. Ask Buildory to add a committee member.

Can I use it on my phone? Yes. Every screen works on a phone, and the score boxes are big enough to use courtside.

Something looks wrong in the table. Check the game's score on the Played list and any Deductions. The table is always worked out from those two, so fixing either fixes the table. If it still looks wrong, contact Buildory.
